HIGHLAND PARK
- 30+ year Highland Park resident
- Current Highland Park City Councilmember
- In his first term, Tapia made local history as the first Latino elected to the Highland Park City Council.
- Former Highland Park Housing Commissioner
- Key leader in proposal and launch of Dual Language Program benefitting throusands of families over a nearly 30 year period
- Provided pro bono consulting on diversity and inclusion to District 113 before serving on City Council.
- Board President of Highland Park’s Working Together
- Former Ravinia Festival Trustee being the first ever chair of the Board’s DE&I Committee that led to meaningful changes.

- Graduate Northwestern University, BA History, with an emphasis in journalism and political economy.
- Currently enrolled as a student in the accredited Executive MBA program at the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
PERSONAL
- Peruvian-American (with a Peruvian Dad, American Mom), born in Chicago but grew up in Lima, Peru since being nine-months-old until coming to the US for college.
- Bilingual and multicultural.
- Andrés and Lori raised their daughter, Marisela, in Highland Park, where she attended the City’s public schools, including the Dual Language program where Andrés was part of a leadership team which influenced the D112 Board to bring to Highland Park. Marisela is now a Spanish language and culture teacher, and international performing artist.
